You can use your cPanel (Control Panel) username and password for FTP. More FTP Accounts can be created and removed from your cPanel at any time. In this tutorial we will walk you through the creation and deletion of an FTP Account.
Creating FTP Account:
- Log into cPanel
- In the Files section, Click the FTP Accounts option.
- In the Add FTP Account section, fill in the fields as needed.
- Login field:-Here you should enter your desired username. cPanel automatically combines this with your primary domain to come up with a full username. For example if you type johndoe as your login, cPanel generates a username looking like johndoe@example.com
- Password field: Type your password in this field. To generate a strong password, you can use the password generator button. Please read our guide on cPanel Password Strength and Security
- Reeat pasword field: Repeat your password above to confirm.
- Directory: When you create an FTP account, it is limited to the directory you set here. To give them full access to your file system, just enter a forward slash, like this: /
To give limited access to your website files to an FTP account, enter public_html. Or as you name the FTP account it will try to automatically restrict access to public_html/username
- Qouta field: Use this field to limit the amount of space.
- When done, click on Create FTP Account button.
Deleting FTP Account:
- Log into cPanel
- In the Files section, Click the FTP Accounts option.
- You will see a list of all the FTP accounts you have. Find the one you want to remove and click on the Delete Option
- Specify whether you want to Delete Account or Delete Account And Files
Congratulations, now you can create and delete your own FTP Accounts
