What is a .co.ke<\/strong> domain?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before you register .co.ke doman, perhaps you need to understand what it is. Co.ke is a second level domain for Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who can register .co.ke domain name?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The extension .co.ke can be used by companies. It basically tells web users that “this is a company based in Kenya”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This domain type is not limited to companies, individuals can register and use this extension for personal projects as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registering a .co.ke domain does not require one to present supporting documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to register your domain name.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are several web hosts that provide this service in Kenya. Each one of them has their own procedure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this post, I will guide you through the process of registering your domain at Shujaa Host.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below are steps to follow on how to register .co.ke domain. In this procedure we’re going to register the domain <\/em>myblog.co.ke<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. First, visit shujaahost.co.ke\/domain_registration<\/a><\/li>
  2. Second, type your domain name but do not include the extension. In this case you’ll enter myblog<\/strong> [Take note of the .co.ke part. I have left it out]<\/li>
  3. Next, select .co.ke under extension drop down. <\/li>
  4. Click on SEARCH <\/strong>button.<\/li>
  5. Give the system a few seconds to respond to your search.<\/li>
  6. If your domain is available, the system will display a message “Congratulations, myblog.co.ke is available”<\/li>
  7. Next, click on Add to cart <\/strong>button.<\/li>
  8. Next, specify if you need to purchase hosting for your domain. If you want to host it with Shujaa Host, right now then click on the button that says “Yes add hosting with Free SSL Certificate”. Otherwise, click on the button that says “No thank you, I just want to buy a domain”<\/li>
  9. I’m assuming that you, you picked the second option. If you picked the first option, then select a package that you need.<\/li>
  10. Either way, the system will take you to the review screen. On this page, check and verify that your selections are correct.<\/li>
  11. If everything is fine, click on Checkout<\/strong> button.<\/li>
  12. On the checkout page that opens, fill in your registration details if you’re a new client then click on Complete order<\/strong>. If you’re an existing client, click on Already registered? <\/strong>button and log in with your client area credentials.<\/li>
  13. Lastly, the system will take you to a payments page with instructions on how to pay for your order. Go ahead and complete your payment to get your domain registered.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Domain Propagation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    What is Domain Propagation<\/strong>? Domain propagation<\/strong>, also sometimes called DNS propagation<\/strong>, is the process of updating every server across the web with new information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For .co.ke domain names, propagation time runs between 30 minutes and 48 hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    During this time, you can upload your website’s files. Once the propagation is complete, your website goes live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
